HEAD TUTOR

Paul started teaching at The School Of Jewellery in 2015 after many years in the jewellery industry. In 2023, Paul assumed ownership of The School Of Jewellery Ireland, symbolizing his deep dedication and visionary leadership. Under his guidance, the school is poised for a transformative journey, expanding its horizons in jewellery education. With strategic insight, Paul envisions reaching a broader audience, both locally and globally.

As the driving force, he continues to inspire and ignite a passion for jewellery, embodying a journey from artisan to owner that enriches the school and the wider jewellery community. With unwavering commitment and visionary zeal, Paul's influence ensures a radiant future for The School Of Jewellery.

Paul teaches a range of different subjects. Goldsmithing, Stone Setting Enamelling and more specialised subjects like Keum Boo, Score & Folding, Reticulation and Hydraulic Forming.

ENGRAVING TUTOR

Martin was traditionally apprenticed at sixteen years of age to Master Engraver Derek M. Egan of Castle St. Dublin and has almost 40 years experience as a full-time, professional Hand Engraver (only a handful of whom still exist in Ireland).

Martin's approach to engraving and the teaching of that craft is enthusiastic, informal and pragmatic. 

"We all work within our limitations. With time and practice those limitations dissipate, but at the beginning, armed only with the most basic engraving techniques, (wriggle cuts and bright cuts) a student can achieve the most surprisingly beautiful results."

This practical, no nonsense approach to an ancient art form has seen Martin work with Ireland's top Jewellery Designers and Manufacturers as well as leading International Retailers to name a few...Tiffanys, Boodles and Cartier.

As we start to grow the school we will be actively recruiting new tutors. We will also have guest tutors teaching specialist classes in their individual fields of expertise.
