The Art of Forging Weekend- Forge your own Earrings, Bangle, Spoon. €295.

€295 includes all materials and a delicious home-made lunch each day.

Forging is the technique of shaping metal by changing the cross section using a hammer and anvil. Similar to how a blacksmith works with iron, this weekend workshop will introduce you to many of the forged forms that can be used on a jewellery scale. You will learn how to use a hammer and anvil to move metal effectively into graceful fluid lines.

Over a series of exercises you will use forging techniques to make links for a chain, forge a ring, earrings and a bangle and finish by forging a small spoon.

Gilding metal for all projects is included in your course fee. If you would like to make the Forged Spoon, or Bangle in Silver, please purchase this alongside your course fee using the dropdown menu above the Book Now button.

Craft Your Own Bangle - An Introduction to Anti-Clastic Raising -  Weekend €295

€295 includes all materials and a delicious home-made lunch each day. 10am - 5.30pm

Anticlastic Raising is a method of moving a flat sheet of metal into a three dimensional form with two curves going in opposite directions. Because the technique exploits the natural way metal will move, it results in very beautiful organic forms. Séamus Gill will teach the technique on a jewellery scale.

This two day workshop will be led through demonstration and a series of hands-on exercises which will allow you to develop a thorough understanding of the technique. All the materials, tools and equipment you need, will be provided.

Gilding metal is provided to make the pieces, if you would like to make oneof your pieces in silver please select the relevant option on the dropdown list when booking your course.
